Rate Of Books Retribution (C.J. Townsend #1)
Hahaha, don't bother with this juvenile mess. What a vapid offering. The writing was terrible, it was a bad book. Also, there was no mystery there to speak of. Anyone who has ever read a book or two, or is familiar with a working of a simple mystery novel, would be able to figure out who the increasingly cartoonish killer is.Plus, I think Hoffman needs to see someone professionally. Almost every character, cardboard as they were, was overly sexual. Now there is nothing necessarily wrong with

I love this book as a standalone novel. "Retribution" is a compelling story that seasons your typical police procedural with philosophical flavor. It evokes the characters and the reader to question their personal convictions, values, ethics; similar to some of the greatest episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. It is a very brave debut and one of my most-read books. However by introducing it as the first installment of a series, the few loose ends that could have easily been left

Review to follow!

So it took me 7 and a bit days to finish this book, which generally speaking for me is quite quick (I'm a slow reader). I've been known to read other books a lot faster, like 4 books in a series within 4 days, but this one I felt like I got through pretty quickly. It was easy to read, pretty gripping, and interesting. I kind of suspected from very early on that there would be two different major criminals in play, but I wasn't entirely sure who the actual Cupid would be. At least until I read

Retribution is a fascinating debut novel! I was hooked from the first page to the very end.Set in NYC, law student C.J. Townsend survives a brutal rape and disfigurement committed by a masked intruder who is never caught. Unable to put it behind her she moves to Miami and takes a job at the State Attorney's office where her past comes back to haunt her.Unputdownable!

"What would you do"? An outstanding debut novel. So good, I just purchased her nxt 2 books WITHOUT reading the overview. Although they weren't a good as "retribution", they were good enough to keep me wanting more. Retribution didn't just make me ask myself; "what would I do?", but I found myself asking; "how far would I go to stand up for what I truly believed"? An excellent book. To tell you much more, would leak some of thrills & excitement.

Hard to read with it starting with a brutal, sickening rape. Lots of triggers for anyone who has been raped. I almost put it down but then it got more into the legal process and proceedings. The prosecutor was just a damn mess. Everyone cutting corners in the legal system to get the ruling they needed. Idk. Not my type of criminal/legal thrillers.
