حب فريد لا مثيل له في التاريخ أو في سير العشاق , حبُ نادر متجرد من كل غاية . لقد دامت تلك العاطفة بينهما ما يقارب عشرين عاماً لم يلتقيا الا في عالم الفكر و الروح , كان جبران مقيما في أمريكا و كانت مي مقيمة في القاهرة . لم يكن حب جبران جراء نظرة فابتسامة فسلام فكلام , بل حباً نشأ وترعرع عبر مراسلة أدبية طريفة و مساجلات فكرية و روحية ألفت بين قلبين وحيدين , و روحين مغتربين , كان كل منهما يبحث عن روح شقيقة في يقظته واحلامه , ويتوق الى تلك الشعلة الزرقاء التي هي جوهر النفس الانسانية في أسمى درجات صفائها . كل منهما كان يسعى لرؤية ذاته في روح صاحبه حتى لكأن تلك الروح هي المرآة التي ينعكس على صفحاتها نور الأخر . ونحن , كلما انعمنا النظر الى مضمون هذه الرسائل النابضة بالحياة, الناضحة بالصدق , كلما ازددنا يقينا بان الحب الذي شد جبران الى مي , و شغف ميّا بجبران , حب عظيم , بل عشق يكاد يكون صوفيا لأنه تخطى حدود الزمان و المكان والحواس الى عالم تتحد فيه قوة الوجود . ان هذا الحب بسموه, وعمقه , وطهارته , جعل كلا منهما يبحث عن الله في قلب الأخر .

probably the most passionate arrangements of words I have ever seen.

Well, I'll be darned. I never knew of Mary Haskell and her influence on Gibran. She pretty much subsidized him for much of his life. A fascinating group of letters between them. Ended up feeling much respect for her and a tad less for him!

Amazing.. Each letter is like a poem. Full of love, full of life and wisdom. One of my favourites. Would recommend everyone who enjoys reading Kahlil Gibran. I gives you an in depth understanding of him and his love which shaped him to be the person who touched heart and souls of millions.

If you read the intimate letters as words between two close friends, Gibran and Haskell, it might feel a little awkward. But, if you read these letters as words between Patron of the Arts and the artist she was supporting, you will feel the grace and the decency of two beautiful human beings. To know that there was so much understanding between Gibran and Haskell is heartwarming. Haskell's basic income to Gibran for over 20 years made him thrive with his writing, poetry, and visual arts.Love,

Love can be expressed in different methods, but the most timeless and most treasured will always remain the classic love letters . A Spiritual Love Journey that I never wanted to end. May Ziadah and Gobran Khalil Gobran have never met each other but the spiritual love remain for 20 years, they were soul mates of the highest order.A great example for pure love...I really loved this book :)
