Rendition In Favor Of Books Ziarah: Sebuah Novel

It's not easy to assign number on a piece of literature like this. In conclusion, however: Is this book good? Dear God, yes.

What appeals me the most of this book isn't the architecture of the sentences, but the characters. Iwan Simatupang managed to create a mystical character around which events revolved, in a way that is so breathtaking, bold and blatant. He orchestrated equal mystery for the supporting characters, even the smallest ones, we can't help but wondering what happened in their fictional lives; every single one of them. The plot itself moves in wave-like manner; withdrawing, then pushing forward, then surging forth erratically. By the end of the book, you'll wonder what the damn hell you just read, whether you like it or not, and marvel in the stupefaction you're left with for days.

I recommend this for readers who can appreciate great things they can't understand, and people who are fond of pondering over sketchy fiction.

Weigh Up About Books Ziarah: Sebuah Novel

Tapi suka!Pasti dibaca lagi lain kali. Mudah-mudahan jadi ngerti.

The last few pages makes me cry. Its absurdly beautiful read. Way ahead of its time.

106 - 2019Ini kali pertama saya baca bukunya Iwan Simatupang.

Aku suka penutupnya. Setiap langkah adalah ziarah. Pada kemanusiaan.

Reading this truly was a delightful surprise! I never heard of the novel, writer (yes, sorry for my limited knowledge on Indonesian literature and writers), even more its story. So, as more I turned the pages everything became more and more interesting. I didn't expect it to be so absurd, yet so funny and philosophical at the same time! I love the subtle criticism in many parts, the contradiction (one of the main characters really hates snobbism, but the novel story is a bit snob in itself i
