Night Road
When Lexi returns, older and wiser, she demands a reckoning. Long buried feelings will rise again, and Jude will finally have to face the woman she has become. She must decide whether to remain broken or try to forgive both Lexi…and herself.
Night Road is a vivid, emotionally complex novel that raises profound questions about motherhood, loss, identity, and forgiveness. It is an exquisite, heartbreaking novel that speaks to women everywhere about the things that matter most.
Night Road is the first book I have read by author Kristin Hannah. This was an intense book! Up until the fifty percent mark, it appeared to be a coming of age story of sorts. But at that point, everything in these characters' lives went to hell. After one incident of poor judgment, the lives of all the characters involved are changed forever. This story is painfully real. All of the consequences portrayed in this book are heartbreakingly preventable and knowing this added to the tears I
I listened to this on audio and once again I have to say that I think that my experience of the book was enhanced because of this. The narrator (Kathleen McInerney) was brilliant, and I never felt like like I was listening to someone reading the story. Although the story has quite a few cliches and at times felt a bit teenagey for me, I felt for all the characters, especially Jude. I didn't understand or agree with all her actions, but then I've never been in her situation. I normally only
Beautiful, emotive haunting read - another masterpiece from KristinThe story begins with Lexi, she has had a traumatic start to life, her mother suffered from mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse and recently passed away. Lexi was placed into foster care. In 5 years she's lived with multiple families and attended multiple schools Lexi has never felt like she belonged or felt loved, it was so easy for her foster carers to return her like an unwanted gift. Now she is 14 years old, Lexis Aunt Eva
I am quickly becoming a huge Kristin Hannah fan. This is the second book of hers that I've read and absolutely loved. The story gripped me from start to finish. I couldnt put it down or stop thinking about it when I wasnt reading.
I almost gave this book one star, but since I at least finished reading it, I figured it had a little merit. Overall, I found the characters unrealistic, shallow, and almost caricatures. I'm not one to speak ill of the dead, but since it's a fictional character I will. Mia is an over-privileged, over indulged self-centered poor little rich girl with no coping skills. This one started off a little slow. Plus, I really wanted to kill the mother. OK, we are all invested in our children's lives but, c'mon, she was just OTT!!! Even when they were older, Jude was just so much in their business. You have to cut the apron strings at some stage. Saying that, I will be the one who will be a miserable wreck sending my youngest off to college next September. It was sort of obvious what was going to happen ... and it did. It did take a little turn that I did not really

When Lexi Baill enters their lives, no one is more supportive than Jude. A former foster child with a dark past, Lexi quickly becomes Mia’s best friend. Then Zach falls in love with Lexi and the three become inseparable. But senior year of high school brings unexpected dangers and one night, Jude’s worst fears are confirmed: there is an accident. In an instant, her idyllic life is shattered and her close-knit community is torn apart. People—and Jude—demand justice, and when the finger of blame is pointed, it lands solely on eighteen-year-old Lexi Baill. In a heartbeat, their love for each other will be shattered, the family broken. Lexi gives up everything that matters to her—the boy she loves, her place in the family, the best friend she ever had—while Jude loses even more. When Lexi returns, older and wiser, she demands a reckoning. Enjoyed this! I did take a while for me to get really hooked and not want to put it down. The story was heartbreaking and complicated. My heart aches for all of the characters. I like the way it ended and felt all sorts of emotions throughout. Good read!Night Road is the first book I have read by author Kristin Hannah. This was an intense book!
