Author and screenwriter of science fiction, fantasy and adventure. David's work has been praised by literary professors and by PhDs in science, by fans and by book reviewers around the world. His miniseries screenplay adaptation of his popular novel "The Shylmahn Migration" won the Pacific Northwest Screenwriting Competition in 2007.David lives on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State with hisI chose this book for a book report in my cognitive linguistic disorders class (studying to be a speech therapist). I learned more from this book about TBI and the recovery process than I would have just reading my textbooks. The author was very detailed about his son's recovery from a severe traumatic brain injury, and I spent the entire book rooting for their family and hoping that one day "Little" David would join his father in climbing Mt. Rainier. I definitely recommend especially since
Bravo to the author who with his determination and love helped his Wounded Warrior son through a long and labored recovery. Please read this book to learn what happens when our troops come home. Many of these men and women who sacrifice their lives come home and are sick, wounded and need much help and care and love.David, I hope you have or will someday make it up that mountain with your father. You have another fan and I will continue to watch your progress, God bless you. I received this book
Sergeant First Class David M. Beshears was severely injured in Afghanistan. Friday, October 12, 2007, at 10 AM his father, David R. Bershears was notified of this. Thus began the very long journey to bring "Little David" home and back to health. From the very beginning David R. sent emails to update friends and relatives of the status of his son, the treatments, and surgeries, and their hopes. This book is based on those emails. Reading this book brings you into the everyday struggles,
InspirationalThis is an amazing book about family love and pulling together after tragedy strikes...I recommend this book be read by everyone, and God Bless this special family.
This book is a wonderful story of recovery, although I found it somewhat depressing at parts, told through the point of view of only emails. It was very factual about the whole recovery process for people who had suffered from brain injuries, while still having plenty of emotion that always comes with life-changing events told by a wonderful author. I was very moved by the father's devotion to climbing the mountain in honor of his son. I think that this book would be a wonderful read for fathers
