First off, let me say I'm not a fan of chick lit and I'm past the age of girlfriends getting married and the whole dating nightmare. With that said I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed this story. You get a little bit of everything with this story. You have the insecure Maya, you have the "perfect" (but sweet) girl living the almost perfect life, with Jen, you have the wicked mother with Ms. Mitchell and then the guys. Travis, Maya's ex who's dating Jen, Ethan the computer geek, co-worker and thenSPOILER WARNING!!!!THIS IS A REVIEW OF ALL THREE BOOKS IN THE MAYA DAVIS SERIES!HOWEVER, I REALLY DON'T GO OVER THE STORYLINES IN DETAIL, SO IT'S NOT THAT SPOILERY. JUST A WARNING.I now officially adore Erynn Mangum. I had thought that she couldnt get much better than the Lauren Holbrook series, which was completely amazing (My review). I've read all of the books in Erynn Mangum's Lauren Holbrook series as well as the predecessor to this book, Cool Beans, and I have to admit - I was very disappointed by Latte Daze. To me, it seemed like it was a sequel that was rushed to be printed. The whole story fell flat and I found myself beginning to be annoyed with Maya, the main character.Plus, and this is just my observation, it honestly felt like every chapter had them eating something. I enjoyed this much more than the first book in the series. Sure, there were moments, just like the first book, where I felt some parts were a bit cheesy and unrealistic. But that didn't seem to bother me as much in this book. Of course, being a coffee-lover myself, my favorite aspect of this book was the fact that the main character works at a coffee shop. Latte Daze is a perfect light, summer read.The characters were so real and sweet. I couldnt help but think of the movie Bride Wars while reading this book and pictured Anne Hathaway as Maya. (Although, Maya and Jen were in no way fighting in this story). Maya and Jen have such a great friendship. They just seem so adorable. I completely fell in love with Mayas dog, Calvin.
