Narrative During Books Wraithsong (Desirable Creatures #1)
Winner of the SILVER MEDAL in the 2014 Readers' Favorite annual International Award Contest—Category YA Paranormal Romance.Ever since she can remember, Sonia has had to abide by her parents' ridiculously unfair rules like not being allowed to date or even kiss a guy. The only reason she thinks she's being held to these rules is when Sonia was eight, she took a sip of her friend’s drink, causing her friend to do everything Sonia asked.
As her eighteenth birthday approaches, Sonia is finally about to learn why; she's a Huldra, a dangerous, yet seductive and magical Norse forest maiden who with just one kiss, has the ability to control humans and appropriate parts of their souls. Keeping the rules hasn't been a problem for Sonia because she's never really been attracted to any guy.
But when Anthony transfers to her school, every last rule flies out the window. There's just something about Anthony that she can't resist—the way he seems to be hiding a deep, dark secret that is connected to her, the way his mysterious blue eyes cause her heart to beat more rapidly, his athletic, god-like physique.
The closer she gets to her eighteenth birthday—the moment she matures into a fully realized Huldra—the harder it becomes to follow her parents' rules. As graduation day approaches, Anthony starts to show interest in her, but she would never have guessed how life-changing and how dangerous Anthony's secrets are, and how overwhelmingly intense a relationship with him could be.
Suspenseful, passionate and gripping, E. J. Squires’s contemporary paranormal YA romance brings you on a highly entertaining adventure that you will want to continue on forever.

You can also find my review here: https://devouringbooks2017.wordpress....Wraithsong is a fairytale with a dark twist. I loved reading this book, and honestly I have a hard time writing a review because I liked it so much. The supernatural creatures were very original, which is saying something because I read a ton of books in this genre. I think that the concept of Huldras was great and the background on the creatures was done really well. I found the book fascinating. I wasn't 100% sold on the2.5/5I really wanted this book to be good, I was really excited to read it as I had heard great things about it! I liked that it talked about Norwegian/ Scandinavian mythology, different and quite interesting. However, and I am sorry to say this, even though the story idea was really good, as I was reading, I realised that something felt off but I couldn't quite put my finger on it until a couple chapters in. I don't know how to quite explain it but here it is:-The conversations. The dialogues
One thing that I particularly loved about this book was the originality of the paranormal beings in this story. I have read a lot of books in this genre and have not came across anything like the Huldras, and I found the background of the mythology fascinating. Sonia, bless her, is such an amazing character. I'm looking forward to seeing her develop and mature more in the next book and I think my heart broke a little bit for her at the end. I think I know where the story may go next but with how

[SPOILER ALERTS]I found this to be a highly intriguing and very captivating book. The author managed to snag my attention from the very beginning by throwing me as the reader straight into the story. Soon I start learning more about the deep dark truth of who and what Sonia is as she learns who and what she is as well. She always knew that she was special, but as she got older and closer to her 18th birthday, she started to understand a lot more about what made her so special. Immediately when
In life, the test comes first, the lesson later.Sonia, a young teenager, soon to be 18 years old, is different from all other teenagers her age. She has the ability to control people. Sonia has to follow very strict rules, something she doesnt really understand as her mother is always so extremely vague about it. Soon she meets Anthony, the only boy she actually has any interest in. Things havent been easy for poor Sonia. She has to overcome a few twist and turns in her life. Starting by knowing
I really enjoyed this book. The premise of it being based from Norse forklore is really interesting. Sonia is a strong lead, will be turning 18 and graduating high school. Her mother keeps telling her that her life will change significantly when she turns 18, but refuses to give her too much information other than she is a Huldra. What she does know is that she can influence people by her saliva. With a couple of weeks left of school and just before her birthday, she gets in trouble at school
I believe that the kind of books that teach you something while keeping you entertained are the best. While reading Wraithsong, I learned more about Norse mythology while dancing to the twists and turns of the plot. I was left being unable to assume which step the plot would take next and thats exactly how I love to be when I read a book. Not only does the story thrill you, the characters are dynamic, and grow gracefully within the storyline. I personally enjoyed all the descriptive exchanges
