Rocked my socks right off. I'd actually give it 4½♥'s, but fudged up to 5 for GR. I received an ARC from A.M. Hargrove in exchange for a honest review. This book was SO great... it reminded me of the Donnie and Marie Osmond song "A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock N Roll" only, instead substitute Sci-fi and Dystopian (and a healthy dose of Paranormal.) I really love how this book mashes up so many genres together into this little harmonious, entertaining package.Those that have shied awayThis is the first book in a spin-off series from another series this author has written (of which I haven't read at time of reading this book). The fact that I hadn't read the other series didn't effect my reading of this book too much. There were some things that I felt we didn't know enough about and I found the beginning of this book a bit confusing but I think those problems would have been solved if I had read the other series first. I don't think it is necessary to read the other series
Written in the third person perspective, Dark Waltz is a very adult rated read and you know I do like those :)But... I'm not a fan of the third person voice in books. It makes it very impersonal and you don't really get to bond with the characters. In this book, there where many characters and each had their own thoughts and inner-voice so it made it a little confusing as to who was 'talking' or rather 'thinking'... you have to keep up with everything and you couldn't get distracted for even a
When I started reading this book I wasn't sure if I will like it but soon it took a turn and I was hooked and in love with Lisare and Jurek. Their love is beyond what you would expect from a regular love story. Annie has a way of making her heroins sassy and this one is no doubt different. Looking forward to reading more books in this series.
